Lt. Governor position on November Ballot

We made it! The 1,000 + signatures needed were gathered and Mr. Steve Maxfield , unaffiliated candidate for Lt. Governor, will be on the November ballot alongside Mr. Farley Anderson , unaffiliated candidate for Governor.

I realize a lot was asked in a short period of time and some are still wondering what they did when they signed! That’s understandable.

The Utah Independence Project (http://www.utahlive.us/) in March announced the story of Farley Anderson ’s acceptance of a Citizen’s Call to run as the people’s candidate for Governor of Utah.

Following that announcement there ensued a court battle between the State of Utah and The Utah Independence Project over The Project’s constitutional right to use electronic signatures to fill citizens’ petitions.

On June 22, 2010, the Utah Supreme Court voted unanimously in favor of The Independence Project.

Mr. Anderson, a qualified candidate for governor, chose Mr. Steven Maxfield as his running mate for Lt. Governor. This announcement necessitated gathering 1,000 citizen signatures very quickly because the candidate filing deadline was today, June 30th.

Thanks to you, those signatures were collected and turned in to the governor’s office today!

Lovin’ liberty.

Why the state of Utah needs Steven Maxfield as Lt Governor

  1. Steve has been the inspiration behind e-signatures for citizen petitions.   The Utah Independence Project would have been impossible without Steve.  His effort and energy produced the technology to make this a statewide possibility, which can now be duplicated across the nation.
  2. Steve is the strength needed to support campaign financial reform.  When campaign-reporting requirements were being ignored or sidestepped (illegally hiding corporate and special interests contributor’s names in PACs) by the highest elected officials in our state, Steve single-handedly brought the issue to the forefront.
  3. Steve has a brilliant legal and constitutional mind to complement my mostly philosophical and people approach.  We work well together.  Look no further than the fruits of what has happened so far to see that this is what is needed for our state.

Utah leads the nation with a bing win! E-signatures

Utah leads the nation with a big win! E-signatures are a new political tool to empower people and take back government.

Tuesday was a victory for every David who has ever faced the government Goliath. The Utah State Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Lt Gov Bell must obey the law, honor the petition, and place gubernatorial candidate Farley Anderson on the ballot using people-empowering electronic signatures.

Utah leads the nation (this is a huge national story).

As Jefferson said, the only true repository of power is the people themselves.  This is the only power strong enough to take back government.  You are needed now to participate in this historic process.  We have only one week until the filing deadline for the Lt Governor as an unaffiliated candidate.  Your signature is needed.

Go to i-sign.us and follow the prompts and you will participate to put the first candidacy in history on the ballot using electronic signatures.  Have your last four digits of your driver’s license handy for your personal pin.  Pass this on to everyone on your list.
